Custom Polo Shirts

Custom Polo ShirtAhh, the polo shirt.  It looks great on everyone, it’s allowed on the golf course, it’s socially acceptable to wear out to most restaurants and bars, and it can be dressed down or dressed up very easily.  It’s quickly becoming a corporate casual uniform, and it’s considered a staple to most men.  Regardless of your preference for fabric, cut, or style; there are plenty of options for everyone.  The major brands have absolutely exploded in their variation for polo shirts.  Every golf outing has its obligatory giveaway polo and then a handful of polo shirts to be used for prizes.  Ampro stocks every level of polo starting at the most basic polos like Hanes and Gildan, all the way up to Ashworth and Cutter & Buck.  Polo shirts also have a high perceived value when they are given away to potential sponsors and participants.  It can be tricky to determine the appropriate number of shirts to get in each size, but it’s worth it to spend the time.  When we want to give away polo shirts as part of our holiday gift, we actually have every employee respond to us with their requested size.  If you are working with an expensive brand of polo, nobody wants to waste money in ordering the wrong sizes.Golf Polo Shirt

Decorating Options

Once the polo shirt is chosen, it’s time to consider the decorating.  Embroidery is the most popular way to decorate polo shirts.  Left chest is paramount, and some people also like to decorate the right sleeve.  Ampro will digitize your logo for embroidery and run a sample, which they can tweak to improve clarify and execution.  One of the major drawbacks of silk-screening is that each print color costs more… but in embroidery you should use all the colors available.  You have nine thread colors to work with, so be sure to incorporate lots of color into your logo to help it to stand off the polo shirt.

Cut and Style

Here are some other important things to know about polo shirts.  There are two major cuts, “sports” and “fashion.”  If you are expecting to use your polo shirts for physical activities like golfing, look for polo shirts with a sports or athletic cut.  If you are ordering polo shirts for a trade show or as uniforms, it may be more appropriate to order fashion cut polo shirts.  For example, Adidas polo shirts have a generous athletic cut.  Ultra Club, Chestnut Hill and Devon and Jones polo shirts have more of a fashion/corporate cut.  If you are looking for cutting edge fashion cut, some brands also making “slim fit” polos, which are form fitting.  Ladies polos are trending away from Johnny collars (button less v collars) and toward plackets with many buttons, and longer plackets.  The one thing to consider for your ladies polos is whether or not they are to be worn tucked in.  If your organization wants the men and ladies to tuck in, be especially careful to check the length on the ladies polos to be sure they are long enough.  Many ladies shirts are designed to with open, finished bottoms.  If you want to be 100% sure you are making the right choice, either stop by Ampro, or ask your sales representative to pick out a polo shirt that meets your needs, and have them send you a sample.  It’s always better to see a physical sample before you make your commitments.
