S-wing batta batta batta!  I can see it now… we were watching our friends in their little league debut.  Dan’s baseball t shirt was fresh and clean when he stepped to the plate.  Since I grew up in a t shirt family, I notice these things.  My mind wanders as I think about whether or not my Dad printed his baseball t shirt.  I decide that he did.  Then, I hear a kid from the bleachers next to us yelling “swing batter batter batter” at Dan (my best friends’ brother).  I couldn’t believe it.  Here Dan is, at the plate, settling his weight on his two feet getting ready for greatness, and this kid wearing the other team’s baseball t shirt is running distraction on him.  What that kid didn’t know is that Jaime and I had worn Dan out with our annoying constant chatter for the past 5 years, so he was immune.  Dan nailed the ball far into the outfield and slid into third base (even though nobody was anywhere near him) and officially broke in his fancy new baseball t shirt and pants.  Jaime and I stuck our tongues out at the jeering kid and then took off to pick Dandelions and play with our My Little Ponies.

Favorite Baseball T Shirts

Most of the guys I know still have at least one custom baseball t shirt from when they were younger.  Usually those shirts fall into their “favorite t shirt” rotation.  Then they have the nicer baseball t shirts and Henley shirts they get for playing in the adult leagues.  The one common denominator in their wardrobe (or undershirt wardrobe) is the baseball t shirt.  It’s a classic for all athletes.  Runners have their race t shirts, football players have their “property of ” t shirts, and baseball players have their piles of custom baseball t shirts from various leagues.  For the sponsors, it’s hit or miss.  Hopefully their team will get placed in a cool color so their league baseball t shirt with their business name on the back gets a lot of mileage- but then again, you’ll always have the team that has to get the less marketable colors.  If you are running an adult league and you want to keep things fair, try to rotate the colors around within the sponsors so each business will land on a nice color at least every other year.  Don’t be afraid to use colored heathers (like charcoal heather or indigo heather) if you have a huge league, rather than send a group of full-grown men out in bright pink baseball t shirts for an entire season.
