Youth lacrosse has grown 500% in recent years, and NCAA lacrosse has grown faster than any other sport for the past five years.  It’s easy to understand why it’s so popular; the game moves fast and it’s high-scoring compared to other youth sports.  Plus, it’s cool to play lacrosse.  Sports participation is cyclical, and while one sport picks up momentum, another one loses ground.  Since lacrosse is gaining force, it’s a great time to really promote your program and get kids into the pipeline early.  The better your participation is at the younger ages, the better your program will be overall in the league for future.  To that end, here is the marketing perspective on lacrosse T shirts; impressions are everything.  The more times your lacrosse T shirts are seen, the more it drives home your message.  If your team’s message is “intensity”, and you tie that in with your team mascot and colors when you do your lacrosse T shirts, it strengthens that message among your players, and it should increase the interest amongst other people.  No matter what, even if the buzz you create about your team doesn’t result in more participation, it will likely result in more attendance at games, which helps your booster club.

Make It A Favorite

I played lacrosse all through middle school and high school (back when all girls played with wooden sticks) and I can remember how much I always looked forward to getting our uniforms at the beginning of the year.  Every year we received short-sleeved lacrosse T shirts with names and numbers which we used as our game jersey, and we received a longsleeve shirt that was meant for kicking around in, warming up at games, and wearing to school on game days.  It was a white shirt with a red left chest print and just our name on the back in 3” letters- and I LOVED it.  I ordered a size bigger than I would normally wear so it fit comfortably over my jersey, and I can remember wearing that lacrosse T shirt well into college, and later.  It definitely was in my top ten of all time favorite T shirts.  I would argue that a well-executed T shirt is the best way to continually stay in the forefront of people’s minds, including your own players.  Since that lacrosse T shirt was my favorite long-sleeve shirt, every time I pulled it out it reminded me that I am an athlete, which is a year-round responsibility.  It helped me motivate to get to the gym, or go out and run even in the cold weather before the start of the season.

Tailor it to Your Group

To put a casual lacrosse T shirt together for your team that everyone will wear, you only need to think through a few options.  First, are these for girls or guys?  Men tend to like thicker, darker colors, and ladies generally go the opposite direction.  If your team colors are Red and Gold, you may want to put the ladies into White lacrosse T shirts, and the men in a more aggressive color.  Keep the design simple- less can be more, if you are using a base color for the shirts like White or Athletic Heather, you can use your team colors for the print.  On men’s lacrosse T shirts you can definitely go “billboard style” on the back and plaster your message, but for the ladies teams, you may want to lighten it up a little.  Here are a couple of our favorite new lacrosse layouts to get your creative juices flowing, remember, we can expand or change any of the designs you see on our site.
