Baseball Uniforms
It’s all about options when it comes to baseball uniforms. At Ampro, we carry many different manufacturers of custom baseball uniforms, and they all have their own unique strengths. Whether you want a top of the line baseball uniform from Wilson, or if you want to add some personal touches to a stock uniform from Majestic Athletic or Russell, we can walk you through the process. The first consideration always needs to be lead time. How close are you to the season? If you want the best discounts, and you have planned ahead, you can choose an all-custom uniform for a great price. If you didn’t have the luxury of ordering your baseball uniforms in bulk then you should lean toward a stock uniform with some custom touches. There has been tremendous expansion in “stock” baseball uniforms; now there are many more color combinations and options to choose from.
Fabric Options
Polyester, mesh, poly warp knit, poly double knit, spandex, speed-dry, nylon poly blends, the fabric options are daunting. Here is what our coaches are telling us- the poly warp knit seems to be the best. It washes out clean and bright, and the fabric is strong and durable. If your priority is moisture management, mesh and speed-dry baseball uniforms might be the best option. Or, choose custom baseball uniforms that have mesh insets sewn together with more durable fabrics. Some coaches are more concerned about the comfort of the fabric and its flexibility, in which case the spandex-blended fabrics should be considered, along with the specific cut of the uniform. Any Ampro team specialist can discuss the different fits of each manufacturer, and they can talk to you about how the sizes run for each major manufacturer. It seems like the fits are trending toward the loose-fit pant with a stay-tucked waistband and a slight flare leg, and as always, the full button semi-raglan cut baseball shirt.
Bells and Whistles
Now that we have discussed the building blocks of baseball uniforms, let’s discuss the more interesting components; the colors and trim. Pinstriped custom baseball uniforms with throwback style pants are a classic. But, if you have more modern tastes, you can always put together fresh baseball uniforms for your team with short-sleeved or sleeveless tops, Under Armour compression mock turtlenecks, Clemson-length pants, and Adidas shoes. Color-coordinate all the components, piping and braiding for the tops and pants to your team colors. Then add tackle-twill numbers and logos which Ampro cuts and sews right in our Primos, PA facility. Generally our teams go with 4” front numbers and 8” back. If your team doesn’t have the budget for a fully custom uniform, we also have a ton of options for pullover tops that can be printed and paired with stock baseball pants. Let us know what the timeframe is for your next custom baseball uniform purchase, and we’ll outfit your team in the best option for your budget and needs.
