Are you ready for some football?  Football uniforms evoke different emotions from different people; some people think of their high school experience, some think of their fanaticism for professional football leagues, and others think about someone they know who used to be involved in a football program at some level.  From pee wee leagues through collegiate programs, football uniforms are highly advanced and tuned in to all the different player’s needs.  The big guys need room to work, and the running backs and quarterbacks need something that’s hard to grab.  Some of the marquis manufacturers of football uniforms that we supply are brands like Wilson, Powers, Russell Athletic and Rawlings.  If you are planning to put a completely custom football uniform together for next year, allow for plenty of time to research options, so we can give our mills plenty of time to make the uniforms.  It’s amazing how these brands can manufacture uniforms to such exacting specifications with so many options available.  Plus, early order discounts can apply if you get your football uniform order in a few months before the season.

Keep Cool

Moisture management fabrics come in a ton of different varieties for football uniforms.  Mesh is a great way to improve airflow around the athlete and his pads, and it’s extremely durable.  Mesh comes in either tricot or porthole variations, and some manufacturers primarily use Pro-bright mesh versus regular (pro-bright is more shiny) for their football uniforms.  In addition to that, some manufacturers use moisture management dazzle cloth for the cowls at the top of the uniform, so in theory, the whole jersey can breathe.  Almost all the jerseys come with 2-ply dazzle cowls on top, which are designed to be durable.  As many of you know, football uniforms are available in either a lineman’s cut, or a regular cut; so if you know how many slots you are filling in each line, it’s easier to finalize your order.  The trend from our coaches suggests that full-length football uniforms are the direction most leagues are going, but there are still plenty of options in the other styles.

Other Options

In addition to the jerseys, we carry a ton of different football pants.  Powers definitely has the best quality in their stock pants, but a new trend is to actually sew the pads into the pants.  If you want to try this out, just request some options for integrated football pants.  Under Armour has the market cornered on compression apparel for underneath football uniforms to keep your players warm and to reduce injury.  There are some decent comparable items from other mills, but most players elect to splurge on Under Armour, whose quality and branding are second to none.  Before you place your order, be sure to double check your league’s requirement for the size of front and back numbers.  Most teams use 10” numbers on the front and 12” numbers on the back, but it can vary by state and league.  At the high school and collegiate levels, many coaches are honoring their graduating seniors by having their names sewn onto their football uniform at the end of the season.  Ampro has in-house sewing capabilities, so feel free to call on us to take care of this for you.  Team discounts apply so be sure to get your football uniforms ordered early.  Our team specialists are available at any time to discuss options and present samples.  Give us a shot at your next football uniform purchase!
