Sports Uniforms

Sports UniformSports uniforms are very highly specialized.  Every sport has very different needs and preferences, and at Ampro, we’ve spent the last 35 years learning about them.  If you were to walk out into our shop with a sports uniform in your hand, and you gave it to someone printing numbers and asked them to “number it” for you… it’s pretty amazing what happens next.  Rather than taking that sports uniform and sliding it onto a pallet and just printing it, the first thing they will do is look at the fabric content and manufacturer of the uniform.  Then, they’ll check out how it’s sewn together (to be sure there aren’t any seams in the way).  After that, they will probably advise you that they are setup to print 6” numbers, and you handed them an item that would normally get an 8” number.  Once all of those things have been discussed, then they will evaluate the print color you are requesting for that fabric ground to be sure it’s appropriate.  Sports uniforms are expensive, and it takes years to understand how to print on the extremely diverse group of fabrics in the market.  It also takes experience to know what the norms are. 

No Substitute for Experience

Many small “mom & pop” shops only have one or two people who print their sports uniforms, and they may have problems with turnover, quality, and management… and it’s important for our clients to know that we don’t.  Ampro routinely tests our ink systems on tons of different sports uniform fabrics to see how it will react with all the new synthetic fabrics.  We have engineered our own ink formulations for working with exceptionally stretchy fabrics that also need to be quite durable.  Our management team averages over 26 years in experience as a manager at Ampro, which is great for the people who are ordering one color prints on cotton garments, but it’s critical to everyone buying a sports uniform.  There is no substitute for experience in this market.
